Ricky Martin was born on December 24, 1971, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was born as Enrique Jose Martin Morales IV. His father, Enrique Martin III was a psychologist and his mother Nereida Morales was a accountant. In 1974, his parents got divorced.
Ricky Martin has a half sister, Vanessa Martin who is younger and having half brothers including Fernando Fernandez, Eric Martin, Angel Fernandez, Daniel Martin.
Ricky Martin attended Sagrado Corazon School and he was an average student. In the school, he always participated in the extra-curricular activities and also sang in the school choir. Then his father encouraged him to join for the voice lessons.
Ricky Martin began to appear in television commercials when he was 6 years old. In 1984, he joined the group Menudo. He was the lead singer of this group for the next five years. In 1989, he left the Menudo group and travelled to Mexico where he worked as a singer and an actor.
